MiMi Records

It all started, two months ago when i saw a traditional concert of japanese music and dancing to commemorate the 460 years of Japanese/Portuguese Friendship sponsored by Japanese Embassy in Portugal. After the concert i thought why not continue this friendship using "new music". After that, MiMi has born. MiMi is a project to release japanese and portuguese music (all kinds of music). It's also a way to make musical exchange between musicians and music projects from this two countries. All releases will be in mp3 format for now, but we are thinking in release some CD-R limited and might have handmade covers or special editions. You can check out our website for more information.

Despite his young career, Diogo, or better Gobi Bear, presented his second job with a more mature sound and influences taste bands like Bon Iver and José González. Pleasant to listen to 12 songs, a singer hiding behind the beard, which sings verses exalting his life and his melodies sprinkled with numerous instruments. The harmonies are simple but not obvious. In the end, what remains is little more than 20 minutes of music as a passing breezes of late afternoon light. Anyway, a great...

We bought a cheap glockenspiel and a new shaker. We found a melodica from Joana's childhood. We tried to play a drone on an old violin and managed to play four chords on an even older piano. We spent endless time listening to three crickets. We got the help of a friend to record and produce the songs, of another to take the photos and another to make the design. We had a good time and we have a new EP...

Some people say that mermaids do not exist. Pure lies. Izumi Suzuki (aka Linda Bjalla) is one of them and invites us to dream and a journey of pure enchantment by cold seas of Sweden, Izumi USA voice like a siren who naively tries to attract listeners. And she made it. The rest of the scenario is the mastery of a piano accompanied by sound landscapes that make us remember the seabed. The spell is short so it is recommended to listen in loop.

Stereoboy is Luis Salgado. A musician from Tomar, who recently used to play in U-Clic. The only similarity between these Stereoboy and U-Clic, is that both projects play electronic music. However, U-Clic sounds more rock or industrial. In Stereoboy the thing is much more refined. Most of the time, Luis Salgado gives us soothing melodies, closer to bedroom pop. These are sounds that are dotted with some experimentation. Themes that sometimes carry us to our childhood and remember, old music...

Minson bring us images and soundscapes of places we realise we know. Bits of information come together... images, smells, and sounds fuse into one... we are there, at the shores of Nile. The music is a high voltage ambient, experimental and noise mixture with multi-layered sounds, usually very dark, lots of mysterious atmospheres.

It's pretty, it's simple,it's almost minimal, it charms and rocks you. No, it is not a musicbox, but it could almost be one. It is just “Clockwork Lamp”, the japanese project Table Music Meeting's EP. Four delicious and sometimes child-like tracks which seem, here and there, to be played by toy instruments. Four experiences where folk is the epicentre of emotional and nostalgic journeys to our deepest childhood memories, making us, even if for short while, close our eyes and smile...

To the vastness of electronic music is overlaid the image of a distant music maker, a hermit, at times tormented by his very own schizophrenia. From this is possible to devine IDM's chief brand image: a certain cutting edge attitude which alienates more conservative listeners, and demands of it's followers practise and self-sacrificing discipline. Tsuyoshi Nakamura moves in a dual world where the softness of velvet colored nostalgic dreams is interrupted by a sound sawing that feeds on that light and imprisions it in a labyrinth of voices, sometimes epic, sometimes soothing. The agressive darkness that embraces us is not so much cold as it is disturbing. More, the psychedelic, sci-fi, disturbance is added through glaciar metalic rhythms and other sound manipulations of static and acid distortion of diverse speed and cadence: from the...

Rafael Toral stands as a reference for these ambiental compositions, being all six of them created by Aogu Yoshida. A dense, hipnotic trip, surprisingly relaxing, where the drones linger ad eternum and the harmonious static ressonances sit as your travelmates.

Two songs of ambient noise music with some touches of industrial/experimental elements. Subtle mood changing atmospheres that echo like lonely transmissions through places of concentrated exchanges and lifes.

Akey is a "delicate" electro-indie project. Any fan of Sigur Ros, Múm or Piana probably find some influences on akey. "Feel" is the kind of album that makes us look at the world differently. A totally seductive and intimate EP.

A disc of songs that have a temporal pattern or rhythm, but rely heavily electronically in enjoying endless delays and feedbacks in layers of distortion. Sadness is an ever-present on every song Solange Palmeira. "Alface" (lit. lettuce) is the second release of Solange Palmeira. A set of four themes that reveal that sadness in four stages, four times, four stories with unhappy endings.

MB of revolution_ is an EP where we can find agressive Jungle beats fusing with ragga rythms, hip hop voices, punk-trimming guitars and such a corrosive and noisy enviroment, this, a work for all that enjoy variable mind states and music styles.

Machina Ex-Humana is the tale of the machine-once-human, but still with a soul. The tale of the human fury, trapped in the precise and limited mechanic of the machine, released by the hellish explosion of the soul, that like all souls, is free. From the shock, agressivity, darkness, controntation and pain emerge, but above all, the knowledge of three worlds.

Leonel Sousa aka Spatial White Noise debut on MiMi Records with some songs recorded in his bedroom in 2002. Seven years later, he decided to take his songs out of the drawer and the result is this “Alphajerk”, a dreamy and impressive electronic ambience with some delicate acoustic guitar, twinkly songs falling between folk and electronica. A beautifully processed voice featuring on several tracks brings a slight folk element to the equation. Truly brilliant! Feel free to download and listen...

Here´s a brand new EP by the misterious japanese beat wizard Kasahara Shunichi. "Tender is the night" isn´t an EP to dip into whenever you please. It´s an EP to completely immerse yourself in from beginning to end. It´s a release that requires, and rightfully deserves, your full attention for every single one of its modest twenty-seven minutes. Kasahara Shunichi is definitely a worthwhile addition for anyone who enjoys relaxing electronic music or chill-wave music. Fans of Boards...

Shuho Hidaka continues his musical journey with a second release on MiMi Records. Again he retrieves influences from IDM and mixes them with a whole set of other musical genres. "Segmentalized ID"includes nine tracks which explore the frontiers of IDM keeping other musical styles well in sight. A subtle merge of IDM and other sounds with Shuho Hidaka's personal touch.

Sounds get mixed in constant mutation with abstract atmospheres, autonomous organisms are born. New sonorous landscapes emerge in permanent conflict in an imense, endless search of construction between an ambiental sonority and precise music. Zoom Sampletrak, Alesis airfx, Frequency Analyzer Electro Harmonix help explore the relation of time and communication with complex sound textures, transporting us to sound reconaissance voyages while physical and touchable matter, making this mini-album a...

After two years of anonymity, Anders Blickmann is beginning to have the public recognition of his growing mastery production, edited to mix with South American artists (Oscar Chaves, Julie Amadeo) or with Oceania EP. Here, this project presents a hypnotic construction, in which repetitive and circular elements carry the voice for a more dark and claustrophobic Oceania than the one that appears on postcards - especially in Samoa and Vanuatu. Sound textures superimpose themselves with expertise,...

"The innovation of Oculoss isn’t just the mere obvious reference of the abstract concept of Science Fiction, but, in a more subtle manner than that, it is the Space that its captivating sounds claim to grow, in a slow winding way. The audition of Sound of An Acoustic Guitar is to experience the imperceptivity of a star like transfiguration: to be born out of the agitation of vacuum, to consolidate the physical existence and finally, to explode into vastness. The record starts with the...

GENTIL PROJECT Electronics, voice and toy’s instruments, without restrictions of style level. More than sound and art project, GENTILEZA is a statement of will. Considered to only do what it desires and…it desires indefinitely. This Project opens space to a poetical set of manifests and absurd narratives. Laptop music must be regarded as both technical advancement and an aesthetic revolution. The phrase "achingly beautiful" was invented for these albums. Nankotsu's quivering piano touches and the whispering heartbeat of clicks and pulses, will simply take your breath away. This is music to lock all the doors and windows, close your eyes and immerse yourself in.

If Rachmaninoff drunk one too many pints with Kevin Shields at Brian Wilson’s beach house, the soundtrack of that party would sound something like this. From the improv-spektrum-industrial «The Das Song» to the Monty Python-esque «Praceta Santo Lenho», Puccini Rocks covers every pop genre (known to man) in 15 minutes. A folk-tronic tour de force where there is still room for «Carta Para o João», a ballad that would make Leonard Cohen blush.
